For 10 years, from 2007-2016, Susan served on the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Judicial Appointments Committee (JAC) (2007 – 2014) and the California State Bar’s Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation (JNE) (2014-2016), evaluating judicial applicants. The JAC Committee reviews and investigates judicial applicants for the Los Angeles County Superior Court bench. The JNE Commission investigates and evaluates judicial applicants at the trial and appellate court levels throughout the state of California.
Susan is a Master Fellow, an Advisory Board member and a Nomination Committee fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA). She was elected to serve as President of LCA in 2011. Susan is a Master of the Bench member of the American Inns of Court and is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.
To help women advance in the legal profession, Susan supports California Women Lawyers and serves on the Board of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA) and mentors young women lawyers as WLALA’s DTLA Career Mentoring Chair. Susan is often asked to travel around the United States to lecture on various subjects, including trial strategies, the legal profession and civil rights.
